Can I use SolarNets to keep birds out? Yes!

Overhead solar structures on golf courses and gas stations have some unusual vulnerabilities. SolarNets can provide solutions.
A local golf course in the San Francisco Bay Area has a solar structure above the driving range tee-off area. The two largest challenges were broken panels and bird droppings.
Unfortunately, numerous golf balls have been deflected during tee-off, and impacted the solar panels from the bottom. They shattered glass, and in some cases completely passed through the solar panels. At the time of net installation, more than 50 broken panels were replaced.
SolarNets were installed to protect the bottom surface from the golf balls. Non-conductive support wires were added to minimize net sag over the 200+ feet of length.
Immediately upon installation, the local bird population discovered this more protected space, and promptly started scouting for nesting sites. SolarNets crew then installed skirt nets around the perimeter sides to seal off against side entry.
When finished, the solar panels are protected, the birds are blocked, and golfing has resumed.
The savings far outweigh the cost of SolarNet installation. Thousands are saved in annual maintenance costs by eliminating the need to continually replace broken solar panels, plus the solar energy production remains uninterrupted. Additionally, the need for continual need to clean up bird droppings makes everyones life better.
